Thick Stubby Pyrrhotite Crystal
|
Collection |
Robert Lavinsky |
Description |
When you see a Pyrrhotite these days, you pretty much assume it is from Russia - or perhaps Mexico. But this is an old Brazilian one from a working Gold mine believe it or not, out of the notable collection of Gene Meieran. There are actually two intergrown crystals here, and the larger measures about 5 cm x 4 cm. The Pyrrhotite has a fine bronzy luster. There are some accenting Calcites on one side. |
