Twinned Clear Dolomite Rhombohedrons
Twinned Clear Dolomite Rhombohedrons from Eugui, Esteribar, Navarre, Spain
Collection Robert Lavinsky
Description Sculpturally emplaced on smaller Dolomite crystals are glassy and gemmy rhombohedrons of Dolomite. The largest crystal, measuring 3.7 cm across, is also twinned. Arguably the finest dolomite crystals have come from this deposit and these geometric textbook crystals were in vogue from the earliest days of mineralogy and crystallography in Europe. Specimens such as this have a rightful place in any fine minerals collection - it is "just dolomite," but from THE classic old locale, and with textbook form! This is an elegant, competition-level small cabinet specimen with unusually good balance and quality.
