Description |
This is a major example of the species from a small find that few people are aware of. It was a small pocket in the mid-1980s, and only a handful turn up on the market as old collections recycle. These simply blow away other Mexican Jamesonite specimens, and most worldwide Jamesonite for that matter as well, for their robust crystals and bright metallic luster. In fact, these are likely the world's best Jamesonites. This piece has a rich smothering of splendent, metallic-gray crystals of jamesonite to 4.0 cm across in on druse of brassy yellow Pyrite. There is also a gray rhombohedron of Calcite perched on top, measuring 3 cm across. This specimen is one of the two largest and richest Jamesonite specimens seen by Rob Lavinsky from this deposit, and is very important for the species. This specimen was on loaned exhibit in the University of Arizona Museum for over a decade until purchased by Rob Lavinsky in 2008. Ex. Miguel Romero. |
